Total Parts Replacement: Your Old Bike, Like New

Posted by Max Shukla on

Is your bike not cutting it? Perhaps it has an array of faulty parts and causes problems that seem beyond help. You’ve wracked your brain and it seems as though the best course of action is simply to throw it all in and get a new bike. This doesn’t have to be the case, however. At GC Bike Repairs we can make your old bike new again, with a deep clean and replacement of old and tired parts for much less than it would cost to purchase a new bike. When it comes to updates or replacements, we will defer to you on what you want for your bike, offering advice where we can to help you get the most out of our service.

Our specialty is repair and when it comes to bikes, we are happy to undertake any repair project, big or small, old or new. Our team are experts with years of experience and training in the delivery of total repair, on-hand to offer tips and a run-down of services.
These services will encompass the entirety of your bike, from the nuts and bolts to the frame, wheels, and handlebars. We can even employ a wrap fitting to protect the frame against damage and change the whole aesthetic if you so desire. Additionally, if your bike is or was not performing as you ultimately would have wanted it to, we can make suggestions as to modifications which would enhance and supersede how your bike handled before. These could include upgraded wheels and tyres with durable inner tubes for better aerodynamics and resilience, or fit adjustments such as raising or lowering the handlebars or saddle (which can improve comfort and reduce strain on the body for a better, smoother ride). Some modifications will not be necessary for your bike or what you need it for but we can run you through the different options so you’re aware of what we can potentially offer.

As an alternative for bikes that in reality may not need parts replacing - but instead may simply need deep cleaning, degreasing, lubrication, and checking for partial issues – our servicing options ranging from bronze to platinum can fix a myriad of problems without the need for a total replacement.

Give us a preliminary call for details or bring your bike to one of our bicycle repair shops in the Portsmouth area for a full parts replacement. We will need to make an appointment beforehand if you rely on your bike day-to-day, as these repairs can take up to a week and we will need your bike in the shop for up to two for detailing and testing.
