The story of GC Bike Repairs began with its founder, Graham Childs, an avid cyclist with a background in the cycle industry. Graham’s love for bikes wasn’t just about riding them; it was about understanding how they worked and keeping them in optimal condition. Over the years, Graham had gained extensive experience repairing his own bikes and helping friends with theirs. Graham pulled in his Brother Tony to help with the business and marketing aspects of the business. What they noticed, however, was a gap in the market: there were few local shops that offered both quality and personalised service when it came to bike repairs.

Seeing an opportunity, Graham & Tony decided to turn their passion for cycling and their knack for mechanics into a full-time business. They envisioned a service where cyclists could rely on expert knowledge, fast turnarounds, and a personal connection—things that bigger chain shops often overlooked.

The Humble Beginnings

Graham officially launched GC Bike Repairs from his garage in the heart of the community in 2020. With limited resources, he set out to build a brand based on honesty, trust, and the quality of his work. 

Shortly thereafter Graham was joined by his brother Tony. Tony was also an experienced cyclist, cycle tour group operator and an experienced business Director. Tony brought business discipline to GC Bike Repairs and was responsible for business development, marketing and build financial strategy  that would ensure GC Bike Repairs was ready for the future.

With word-of-mouth referrals and a reputation for going the extra mile, GC Bike Repairs quickly gained a loyal following. Graham & Tony were not just fixing bikes; they were connecting with fellow cyclists, sharing tips, and educating them on bike care. This personal approach helped differentiate GC Bike Repairs from other local bike shops.

A Growing Demand

As GC Bike Repairs’s reputation spread, demand for the services began to rise. What started as a side project quickly transformed into a full-fledged business. In 2021, GC Bike Repairs expanded to a dedicated shop in a bustling neighborhood. The shop allowed them to work on a wider variety of bikes and offer more comprehensive services, including custom builds.

The team at GC Bike Repairs grew, and with that growth came the opportunity to offer more services, such as regular maintenance packages, seasonal tune-ups, and emergency repairs for cyclists on the go. Graham & Tony remained hands-on, ensuring that every customer received the attention they deserved, no matter the size of the repair.

Whether you're a professional athlete or a weekend rider, Graham, Tony and their team ensure that each repair is done with precision and care. GC Bike Repairs also prides itself on sourcing high-quality parts and offering honest advice, even when it comes to recommending when it might be time to upgrade or replace a bike.

The business also prides itself on staying up-to-date with the latest trends in cycling. From e-bikes to the newest carbon fiber frame technology, GC Bike Repairs is always learning and adapting to ensure their customers get the best service possible.

Looking to the Future

As the cycling community continues to grow, GC Bike Repairs is poised to keep evolving. Due to personal issues Graham decided to leave the business and Tony continued with management of the business - with a bright future ahead.

In early 2025 GC Bike Repairs will become ‘Your Bike Repair’ - As the business continues to grow and evolve, they wanted to create a name that better reflected their commitment to personalised service and the strong connection they have with their customers. The new name 'Your Bike Repair', emphasises that every bike we service is unique and that we treat each one as if it were our own.

The word "Your" puts the customer at the heart of everything we do, conveying that this is not just any repair shop – it’s *your* bike repair shop, dedicated to meeting your specific needs.

This change is just one part of our ongoing effort to improve the services and build stronger relationships with our customers. We’re excited about this new chapter and look forward to continuing to serve you with the same dedication and passion as always!

Whether it’s expanding its offerings to include more specialized bike models, increasing its online presence, or continuing to build relationships with the local community, the company remains focused on one thing: keeping bikes in top shape and riders on the road.
